NESIKA SUNSETS

Well, today was our last day in Oregon. It seems like it went by so fast! Today nothing much happened other than spending the day with family, packing, and visiting the beach. Since this was our last day, my father and I went to the beach twice: once during the day and one once in the evening to catch the sunset.  The orange tones that illuminated the sky were just mesmerizing. Sunsets by the beach are so beautiful.

One thing I've always wanted to do, which I don't know why I never did since this was the perfect opportunity, is exercise on the beach. Preferably early in the morning when there's not a lot of people there (if any) and watch the sunrise while you're exercising. I think it would be fun to do yoga or go on a jog in the sand, the water washing up on your feet every now and again. That would have been so refreshing. I had the perfect opportunity, because our vacation rental was only a five minute walk from the beach, and I didn't even think about it until now. I have to keep this in mind for the next time I ever vacation by the beach.

BATTLE ROCK CAVES

To Port Orford we go!

Today began with a workout. Something quick: 50 squats, 100 crunches, 20 pushups. Nothing really to work up a good sweat, but it counted as something! My workout was followed by a shower, bowl of strawberries, a game of Skip-Bo, and a trip to the Battle Rock caves in Port Orford. We found out about this place from the pamplets in the office at our rental property. 

It was about a 10-15 minute drive to our destination. The first thing I wanted to do was not to visit the caves yet, but to climb this huge rock/boulder thing. So my brother and sister tagged along and after about 30 minutes, our father had to climb up to see what we were up to. We were just sitting there, enjoying the view of the water from up above. 

I thought the caves were going to be some gnarly thing, but when we got around to it, it was just a quick in and out. It's not worth going out of your way for, but it was fine since this was the only thing on our to-do list for the day. 

Jerry's Rogue Jets | GOLD BEACH, OR

Today is the day we ride the jet boats! We had to be at Jerry's Rogue Jets by 9:30am, which was hard when you're rounding up 30+ people. We went on the 64-mile excursion which lasted about 5 hours! So glad I wore sunscreen. We preferred to go on the 80 or 104 mile trip, which involved whitewater, but the 64-mile ride was obviously going to be the cheapest. Even then the 64-mile boat trip was still $50 per person!

Now that I've sat down and started typing this post, I've realized there isn't much to say about the boat trip other than it was fun and we saw tons of greenery and some wildlife. The boat cruised along the Rogue River and into Agness. We stopped there for a bite to eat at the Singing Springs, which has some good veggie burgers! We ate and then relaxed for about an hour in the shade before we went back out on the boat. Our driver would occasionally speed up and make full turns so that the water will splash up on us. I sat at the edge of the boat so I got pretty soaked by the end of the day.
