A DAY IN NASHVILLE

Today, my family and I decided to take a trip to Nashville. My grandmother stayed behind though because she wasn't feeling well. I guess it was good for her to stay at home and relax because we literally spent all day in Nashville, going here and there, walking for miles, doing various things.

The first thing we did when we arrived in downtown Nashville was park the car, and we did so in a really random place so it was hard to find again later on. We then went to the John Seigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge (Shelby Street Bridge). We walked up and down the bridge and stopped in the middle to get good pictures of the water and surrounding buildings, then went to Nashville's Music City Walk of Fame and saw names like Elvis Presley, Martina McBride, and Trace Adkins. We looked around a few shops then went to Fort Nashborough, a settlement established in 1780. It was once shelter for the first families until Indian attacks ending in 1792. Though not the same location, it was still interesting - like taking a walk through history. Finally, we went to the Parthenon and walked around Centennial Park for about 2 hours. It was a really quiet and peaceful place, other than the trolleys and quacking geese.

Today was long yet enjoyable. It's always fun spending time with the ones you love in such an amazing city, or state for that matter. Once we got back, the day ended with coffee and a Madea movie, oh and more Mario. I hope you have enjoyed this set of images and come back soon for another post!

Love,
Mickey

CUMBERLAND RIVERCENTER

Today was a day spent in Clarksville, with a quick drive in and out of Kentucky just to say we've been there. After relaxing all day yesterday, it felt good to go out. First we visited my grandfather. I wish it was face-to-face, but unfortunately it was at the cemetery. After spending thirty minutes there, we drove to the Cumberland Rivercenter in Clarksville. We took pictures and my cousins, siblings and I skipped rocks on the waterfront. After about an hour I came to the realizations that I don't think I could ever skip a rock. Every time I try, I fail. I WILL get it down one day! And since O'Charley's was right beside the Rivercenter, we decided to have dinner there. Once we got back to the house, it was time for more Super Mario. I hate the parts when Mario's swimming underwater and there's all these fish that you can't touch surround you and you have no way to get around them. That game can get intense sometimes.

LANDING IN NASHVILLE

I love the feeling I get when I travel back home. Driving down country roads, getting to spend time with family so far away, and being surrounded with southern hospitality is always well appreciated. I am actually planning on moving back to Tennessee probably within the next two years. I've decided that after I'm done with community college, I want to attend the University of Tennessee in Knoxville (of course I have to get accepted first). My plan is to become a vet and I've had my heart set on UTK's vet program since I was probably 15 or 16. It's also nice that it's the college both my parents went to. It'll be nice if it all works out and to be back home. But for now, I'm just visiting.

So Saturday comes along and it turned out to be a full day: wake up, get ready, do last-minute packing, had a late breakfast at 12pm, left the house at 1 to get to LAX by 3pm, check bags, get tickets, fool around with luggage (you know, the typical airport procedures), took off at around 5:30pm, had a flight change in Arizona, and finally arrived in Nashville at 1am the next day. Of course after all this, a stop for food was in order and the only thing open was the Waffle House, and funny enough, I'm not a fan of waffles. Luckily there were other things on the menu. We sat and talked, ate our food, just had as good of a time as you can when you're half asleep, and finally left the place at 3am. We got to my grandma's house in Adams around 4am. So naturally when I'm used to going to bed early and rising early, and I didn't make it to bed until 5am (the time I normally wake up), you can bet I was beyond exhausted!! Not to mention my sleep schedule was off for a while.

Two hours of sleep later, it was time to wake up again to get ready for church. I was tired but I loved waking up in my grandmother's home. I hadn't been to this part of Tennessee in 10 years. Most of my childhood memories are from this tiny house so it feels surreal to be back. After church, I played Mario (you're never too old for Mario) and Just Dance with my cousins, went out to eat at Cracker Barrel, went on a walk, and just took it easy today.

I'll be posting again tomorrow, so check back to see what we get up to.

Love from Tennessee,
Mickey

P.S...Happy Easter!
