Tonight after walking around the Hemet Valley Mall, my family and I decided we should have dinner at Polly's Pies. If you don't know Polly's, it's a cute little restaurant/bakery based in Southern California with a little taste of country. Everything is made from scratch and the baked goods are fresh. It's one of those restaurants where it attracts 50+ year old customers, so offhand people think it isn't for them. But it's a relaxing and down-to-earth environment and it's something everyone of all ages will enjoy! We went late, so not many people were there. I love it when we're practically the only one's at a restaurant.

I ordered the Fresh Strawberry 'n Greens salad, which was amazing! I love strawberry salad and I didn't even know Polly's had it, or I would have ordered it WAY before now! In it is baby spring greens, strawberries, and raspberry vinaigrette topped with toasted walnuts. It originally comes with chicken and bleu cheese, but I ordered it without. I literally got so excited when it was brought to the table and I couldn't wait to try it! Let me tell you, it did not disappoint. The only difference is next time I'm going to ask for my dressing on the side. I usually do, but I forgot this time for some reason. I only like a little bit of dressing, just enough to coat it. Anyone else like that?

By the way, I'm sorry for the lack of posts lately. Posting about every five days seems as good as I can get with college back in full swing! Also since this semester started, there hasn't been much going on in my life anyway besides school, homework, eating, sleeping, and drinking large cups of green tea! I hope everyone has a beautiful day!

Hello everyone and Happy Sunday!

Yesterday afternoon, my family and I went to a luau for an elder at our church's 80th birthday party. Her name is Cary Lee and our family has been close to her for many years. She actually planned the party herself and had the hall decorated and displayed with such precision. Being a luau, the tables were decorated with Hawaii maps, turtles, shells, puka shell necklaces, fishnets, lighthouses, and emerald glass rocks. There was a Hawaiian group on stage playing ukuleles, singing, and hula dancing. There was photo boards on display with pictures of Cary Lee growing up and through the years with her children and grandchildren, which I thought was a really sweet idea. There was also a table with paper taped to it so people could write a message, and a box to fill out a memory you have of Cary Lee. The party was so cute and fun and was great talking with everyone, but the one thing that excited me the most was...FOOD!

To the left, there were coconut-vanilla cupcakes on a surfboard tray topped with a variation of pineapple and cherry kebabs and cocktail umbrellas. To the right, there were three cakes with white and purple frosting and chocolate mousse on the inside. One cake had stripes and a flower, one with purple frosting flowers and "Happy Birthday Cary Lee" in the middle, and one with an edible picture of Cary Lee when she was a baby. In the middle of the table were nutter butters with frosting to make it look like flip flops, laying on sand made out of raw cane sugar. My sister Brianna and I immediately whipped out our cameras and phones and took pictures of all the desserts, dancing around each other to get pictures of each one, and playing around with angles to figure out how to get the best shot. For the "real" food, there was marinated chicken, rice, salads, an assortment of fruit, and steamed vegetables. Some people came to church today asking, "Where was the pork?" I only had salad with a bowl of fruit (pineapple, watermelon, melon, and cantaloupe), and I didn't try any of the dessert, though it smelled absolutely amazing. I literally stayed by the cupcakes for about 5 minutes just inhaling their coco-nutty/vanilla scent. I wish I had a candle that smelled like that. It's times like these I wish I was a fan of sweets so I could have known if it tasted as good as it smelled.
I A Wearing:
Dress: City Triangles
Brown Belt
Class Ring

That's all I have for today. I hope you enjoyed the pictures and have a wonderful day!

P.S. Have you ever been to a luau?

Hello everyone! This might be a quick one, but it's a different sort of post than I usually do. There are things that I have been really interested in and loving lately, so I thought I would make a post to share.

Fun Friends Cell Phone Case:
I don't use this all the time, but I love it because I think it's so cute. It's a little puppy cell phone case that my sister gave me a while ago that I just stared using.

New Protein Bars:
If anyone knows me, they will know how obsessed I am with protein bars! Some that I have been loving recently are the Odwalla nourishing and protein bars. My father started getting these and I have been in love with the Banana Nut, Chocolate Chip Peanut, Dark Chocolate Chip Walnut, and Original Superfood bars. They're only 88 cents at Winco and 98 cents at WalMart and Stater Bros, so sometimes we splurge and buy like 15 at a time! I think they're a good buy though.

Spending Time With Family:
(pictured above)
Of course I always love spending time with family, but we haven't had much time to spend lately. I was sick in bed for two weeks of the winter break and didn't do much. After I got better, my sisters were back at school and I was home by myself a lot. And when they're home, they do homework or something else. And now that I'm back at school, I'm doing homework and other things, so we're all busy. Saturday, we went out to eat at Sonic, ate in the car and just talked. We later watched scary movies (Jessabelle is a freaky one). It doesn't sound like a lot, but any free time we have to spend together is fun, no matter what we end up doing.

Homemade Fruit Smoothie:
I love fruit smoothies, especially when I can make them at home and take them with me while I'm on-the-go, like to take in the car while I'm running errands or to take to school. Which is what I did. Today I brought a smoothie with me to school, which had half of a banana, cherries, strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, an apple, flaxseeds, and soymilk. I like the Insulated To-Go Tumbler because it keeps your drinks cold or hot for a long time. When I put in hot tea or coffee, they stay hot. And when I put in something cold, like this smoothie, it stays cold.

Paris Shirt from Modern Lux:
I got this shirt with matching pants for Christmas. The shirt says "Paris" and the pants say "Bonjour". I'm really surprised I haven't even tried the pants on yet, but have literally fallen in love with the shirt. When I first saw the shirt, I didn't much care for it, but once I tried it on, I loved the material and the way it fit on me.

Strawberry Spinach Salad:
I made this for the first time two Sunday's ago and brought it to a potluck for church. My dad, step-mom and I really liked it. I don't know anyone else's thoughts on it, but I made two containers full and more than half of it was gone, so hopefully it was enjoyable! I used to put pecans in it, but I like it better without. For me, this is my new favorite salad plus it's really simple: homemade raspberry vinaigrette (mix 6 oz. of raspberries, 4 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil, and 1 tablespoon red wine vinegar) with spinach and strawberries. Done.

I have been inside the house a lot lately (reading, brainstorming, writing, watching Harry Potter etc.), but I always make sure I look outside around 6pm to catch the sunset and watch the clouds change colors. I think it's so pretty when that clouds turn purple and pink. Sunsets are so gorgeous.

So that's all I have for today! It's my first "What I' Loving Lately" post, but I might make more later down the line just because they're fun. Let me know if you would like me to make more of these posts. Let me know in the comments what you've been loving lately!

This past Thursday, I made a post about my morning but I only really talked about the Starbucks part of it. So today I wanted to talk about the outfit I wore that day and about my hike.

After having a headache and feeling run down for the past two months, I was FINALLY feeling good and wanted to go out and put on something other than sweats or pjs. My sister and I decided to get Starbucks in the morning and I think I ended up getting too fancy for coffee. This is probably my favorite outfit though. It's light and comfortable and I was perfectly cozy in 40 degree weather.
I Am Wearing:
Top: Wetseal
Jeans: Love Culture
Cardigan: Love Culture (Similar)
Jewelry: Charming Charlie
Shoes: Black Boots

After coffee, my step-grandpa wanted to go on a hike by his house on Jack Rabbit Trail. My step-grandparents are the only ones that live up there, so it's a quiet place to take a walk through nature. And of course, since I already had my outfit on, I decided the go hiking in it, prom jewelry and all. Not exactly what you call hiking attire, but I did it anyway. Call me crazy.

As of now, I'm going to be enjoying my last week until this next semester starts. Probably hang out with friends and maybe even have a pamper session to get me relaxed and feeling good for the new set of classes. Let's hope I do as well this semester as I did the last! As always, I hope everyone has a great day!
